Netflix continues to move deeper into the sports world. While it doesn’t have rights to live events, the streaming service has been busy snatching up the “behind the scenes” footage.
Off the highly successful “Drive to Survive” F1 series, Netflix his since released “Break Point” which follows pro tennis and “Swing”, a docu-series on the PGA.
Now, it’s been announced, Netflix will partner with the NFL to produce “Quarterback”. The series, which will premier this summer, will center around Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.
Filming already took place during the 2022 season. From the huddle to the home, all was captured as the NFL allowed quarterbacks to be mic’d up for every game for the first time ever/
And it should be a good show. Netflix struck gold with Mahomes leading the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl, Cousins had an incredible run and comeback wins plus Mariota who saw some playing time in Atlanta.
In fact Mahomes’s company, 2PM Productions, helped in the series.
“From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all. This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage,” Mahomes said.
Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions is also involved.
