Game Notes: Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles (Nov 16, 2025)

Week 11 Sunday closes under the lights with a huge game in Philadelphia, where the 6–3 Detroit Lions visit the 7–2 Philadelphia Eagles at 8:20 PM ET on NBC from Lincoln Financial Field. The matchup marks the teams’ first meeting in more than three seasons, when the Eagles edged the Lions 38–35 on September 11, 2022. Philadelphia has held the upper hand recently, winning six of the last ten in the head-to-head series — but both franchises now enter in championship form, making this one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Detroit and Philadelphia have been two of the league’s most consistent winners. The Lions are 7–3 across their last 10, and have remarkably won 20 of their last 24 games, including 11 of their last 13 on the road. The Eagles counter with an 8–2 mark across their last 10 games, and have been nearly unbeatable in Philadelphia — winning 10 of their last 11 at home. The stats show two elite offenses colliding: Detroit averages 31.4 points per game, second-best in the league, while Philadelphia’s defense allows just 21.3 points per game and has given up only 20.5 per contest over the last 10.

Detroit will rely heavily on the explosive trio that has powered its rise to the top of the NFC North. Jared Goff has been one of the league’s hottest quarterbacks — throwing for 4,942 yards and 38 touchdowns, and entering with five straight games of 200+ passing yards and at least one passing TD, part of a streak of 15 straight games with a passing touchdown. Jahmyr Gibbs continues to punish defenses with 1,517 rushing yards and 18 TDs, while Amon-Ra St. Brown remains Goff’s premier target with 123 receptions for 1,400 yards and 12 TDs, including eight straight games with at least five catches.

The Eagles — still the team to beat in the NFC East — attack differently but no less effectively. Saquon Barkley has been sensational, leading the league with 2,504 rushing yards and 18 TDs, while A.J. Brown ranks among the elite receiving threats with 1,242 yards and nine touchdowns. Tanner McKee has thrown for four TDs with zero interceptions, but the Eagles continue to lean on their defense and ground-and-pound identity: they surrender just 318.9 yards per game over the last 10, and opponents convert only 40.9% on third down. Philadelphia enters on a three-game win streak, most recently holding off the Packers 10–7 in a slugfest.

Oddsmakers expect a tight finish. The Eagles are 2.5-point favorites, with a total of 46.5, and their recent primetime dominance at home cannot be ignored — they are 5–0 in their last five night games at Lincoln Financial Field, while quarterback Jalen Hurts (14–8 at night) has historically thrived in these environments. Still, Detroit has been outstanding under the lights as well — 8–2 in their last 10 night games, with Goff 24–10 in night starts.

With both teams carrying top-tier Super Bowl odds — Eagles +700, Lions +800 — Sunday night could shape playoff seeding and set the tone for the NFC stretch run. Detroit travels to Indianapolis next week, while Philadelphia heads to Los Angeles, making this primetime clash a pivotal turning point for both contenders.
