Justin Herbert Looking To Avoid 200th Career Sack Sunday Night

Justin Herbert is closing in on a career milestone few quarterbacks want but nearly all endure. The Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller has been sacked 199 times in his career — leaving him just one shy of 200. That total places Herbert third on the Chargers’ all-time list for sacks taken in the Super Bowl era, trailing only franchise legends Philip Rivers (446) and Dan Fouts (319).

This season, Herbert ranks third in the league in sacks absorbed, having gone down 28 times through nine games. In last week’s 27–20 win over the Tennessee Titans, he was sacked six times but still guided Los Angeles to its second straight victory, showcasing his trademark toughness in the pocket.

The 6–3 Chargers, currently second in the AFC West, will look to keep that momentum rolling when they host the first-place Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Herbert will try to stay upright — and avoid hitting the 200-sack mark — as he continues to lead one of the AFC’s most potent passing attacks.

Here’s the Los Angeles Chargers Most Times Sacked Leaders (Super Bowl Era):

1. Philip Rivers 446
2. Dan Fouts 319
3. Justin Herbert 199
4. Stan Humphries 132
5. Drew Brees 92
6. John Hadl 77
