Who would have believed at the start of the season that the best conference through the first five weeks of the season would be the NFC East.
The Philadelphia Eagles were early picks to win the division and be a strong Super Bowl contender. So while they are on top, it’s not a huge surprise they are undefeated at 5-0.
The Dallas Cowboys always have hype but that quickly faded when Dak Prescott went out. However, the Cowboys are 4-1 and undefeated with Cooper Rush at the helm.
The other big surprise is the rise of the New York Giants who just upset the Green Bay Packers in London on Sunday.
The Giants who have also won four straight were afterthoughts at the start of the season, but now have wins over both 2021 playoff No. 1 seeds (Titans the other with the Packers).
And the Washington Commanders aren’t awful. They did beat the Jacksonville Jaguars to open the season and just edged the Chicago Bears in a forgettable Thursday night tilt, but the team is somewhat respectable.
This Sunday, a lot will be determined with a huge Sunday night matchup between the Eagles and the Cowboys.
