NFL Announces 2024 Awards: Josh Allen MVP

Josh Allen earned his first MVP award last night at the NFL honors event. The QB edged out Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley.

Allen, who led Buffalo to a fifth straight AFC East title, got 27 first-place votes to Jackson’s 23 and finished with 383 points. He racked-up 22 second-place votes plus a third.

Jackson finished with 26 second-place votes and one fourth for a total of 362 points.

Barkley finished third (120 points) followed by Joe Burrow (82) and Jared Goff (47).

There was a lot of debate as to who should win. Jackson had the better numbers but had the help of Derrick Henry and Barkley was the beneficiary of a massive Philadelphia Eagles line — will a running back ever win again?

Allen didn’t have much to work with and handed the Chiefs their only loss and eliminated the Ravens from the playoffs.

Jackson and the Ravens did crush the Bills, but the emergence of Henry blunted Jackson’s hopes.

Funny thing, Allen was not named as AP first-team All-Pro. So he’s the MVP but not even best statistically at his position!
