Sunday, the Giants had yet another nailbiter to extend their improbable 2022 record to 6-1 on the year after a 23-17 win in Jacksonville<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The game is the sixth already of this young season that was decided by eight of fewer points, and they had to come from behind in the second-half in five of them.<\/p>\n

And in four of those games the Giants were down in the fourth quarter!<\/p>\n

According to the NFL, the Giants are the third team in NFL history to register six wins, each by a final score margin of eight-or-fewer points, within their first seven games of a season. The only other two were the 2000 Minnesota Vikings and the 1988 New Orleans Saints. It’s worth noting neither of those teams made the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

The Giants are 3-1 this year when trailing at the half. Coming into the season, they were 1-15 in their last 16 when down at the half<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Giants are also the third team ever to win at least five games when trailing in the second half through their first seven games of a season.<\/p>\n

“I think there’s just a competitive spirit,” said Giants QB Daniel Jones. “There’s a mental toughness to our group, and regardless of what’s happened earlier in the game or regardless of the situation, we’ve got confidence that we’re going to execute and find ways to win.”<\/p>\n

Overall, the Giants are part of the greater league trend. Per the NFL, there have been 63 games decided by one score (eight points), exceeding the 2012 season (62) for the most such games through the first seven weeks all-time.<\/p>\n

There have been 34 games in which a team came back to win or tie after trailing in the fourth quarter, tied with 1989 (34) and 2012 (34) for the most such games through Week 7 in NFL history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
