Williams managed to challenge Seattle’s secondary without sacrificing accuracy.

His average completed air yards were 5.28, while his average air yards to the first-down marker stood at +1.02.

That latter number suggests Williams was targeting receivers, on average, slightly beyond the sticks rather than exclusively settling for shorter throws.

Another revealing statistic was his aggressiveness rating of 17.65%, indicating that approximately six of his 34 attempts were directed toward receivers with a defender within one yard of the target.

Williams wasn’t simply throwing to wide-open receivers. He showed a willingness to challenge tight coverage while protecting the football.

His average time to throw was 3.29 seconds, reflecting a quarterback willing to extend plays and allow routes to develop.

Despite holding the football for more than three seconds on average, Williams was sacked just once.

His completion percentage also slightly exceeded expectations. Next Gen Stats calculated an expected completion rate of 70.08%, compared with his actual 70.59%, producing a completion percentage above expectation of +0.51 percentage points.

That suggests his accuracy was largely consistent with the difficulty of his passing opportunities, rather than dramatically outperforming the model.

But Williams’ greatest accomplishment may have been his composure.

When Seattle trimmed Chicago’s lead to 20-17 in the fourth quarter, the Bears responded with 14 unanswered points to put the game away.

Running back D’Andre Swift scored three second-half touchdowns, while Williams provided the steady quarterback play necessary to keep Chicago’s offense moving.

Perhaps the most remarkable statistic of all: Williams has now attempted at least 20 passes in 36 consecutive games without throwing multiple interceptions, establishing a new NFL record.

Caleb Williams — Week 8 vs. Seattle

Statistic

Performance

Result

W, 34-17

Completions / Attempts

24 / 34

Passing Yards

247

Touchdowns / Interceptions

1 / 0

Passer Rating

101.0

Completion Percentage

70.59%

Expected Completion Percentage

70.08%

Completion Percentage Above Expected

+0.51%

Average Time to Throw

3.29 seconds

Average Intended Air Yards

9.49

Average Completed Air Yards

5.28

Average Air Yards to Sticks

+1.02

Aggressiveness

17.65%

Longest Completed Air Distance

30.87 yards

Caleb Williams delivered one of the most significant victories of his young NFL career Monday night, leading the Chicago Bears to a convincing 34-17 road victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
