The Philadelphia Eagles will seek their second Super Bowl title Sunday. It’s their fourth overall Super Bowl appearance and first since their 2018 triumph over the New England Patriots.<\/p>\n

\nThe Eagles won their first Super Bowl and Vince Lombardi Trophy in franchise history and their first championship since 1960, ending the third-longest active championship drought in the NFL at 57 years. Foles won Super Bowl MVP going 28 for 43 with 373 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, one interception, and one receiving touchdown. Foles became the first backup quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl since his opponent Tom Brady won as the backup for Drew Bledsoe in 2002’s Super Bowl XXXVI.<\/p>\n

\nIn Jacksonville, Eagles QB McNabb threw 3 touchdown passes and 357 yards. But the Patriots had the last laugh. Going into the fourth with the score tied 14-14, the Patriots outscored the Eagles with ten straight points. McNabb completed a 30-yard touchdown pass, and the Eagles defense held the Patriots to a 3 and out, but a crucial interception with 46 seconds left sealed their fate, as the Patriots won 24\u201321.<\/p>\n
\nRaiders 27, Eagles 10<\/strong>
\nThe Eagles traveled to New Orleans where they were heavily favored over the Oakland Raiders, who had squeaked into the playoffs as a wild-card team. Things did not go the Eagles’ way, beginning with owner Leonard Tose’s imprudent decision to bring comedian Don Rickles into the pregame locker room to lighten the mood. Jaworski’s first pass was intercepted by Rod Martin, setting up an Oakland touchdown. Later in the first quarter, a potential game-tying 40-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Parker was nullified by an illegal-motion penalty. The final score was 27\u201310. Journeyman quarterback Jim Plunkett was named the game’s MVP.<\/p>\n
